Considering all that Jesus did for us, there is no gainsaying the fact that we owe Him a ton of gratitude. WE should always say:
Thank you Jesus for dying for us, for giving your life so as to save ours. We know that you could have chosen to say “No”, but you chose not to. You could have refused to go die on the cross, you could have chosen a different assignment, but you refused to.
How many time in a day do we say that? Or perhaps in a month?
We just seem to take the sacrifices of Jesus for granted and just live our lives like there is nothing to thank him for. In fact, if you want to understand the extent of the suffering that Jesus went through for us all, just go and watch the movie “The Passion of The Christ”.
That movie clearly lends credence to the import of the Bible verse Isaiah 53:5
God wants us to be thankful in every situation, but we don’t seem not to realise that His vision for thankfulness is bigger than a once-a-year celebration
Thankfulness is an important quality for all people, especially for Christians.
Put simply, thankfulness is recognizing good things that have happened to you, and acknowledging the people who made those good things happen.
In the Bible, thankfulness is recognizing who God is and what he has done.
The Bible tells us of the leper healed by Jesus. We must understand that leprosy was a serious problem in those biblical days. A leper was not allowed to live with other members of the community as they were deemed “unclean.” They were seen as outcasts and were out rightly disgraced in the Jewish society of those days.
On that day, Jesus healed 10 lepers who called on him for mercy. But sadly, only one of them came back thanks him for doing so – and he was even a Samaritan! (Luke 17:16). Being a Samaritan, he was still someone that the “religious” Jews would see as an outsider. Yet he (a Samaritan), still went to Jesus(a Jew) and thanked him.
Let us therefore re-assess our understanding of what Jesus did for us all on the cross of Calvary and show gratitude for the supreme sacrifice He made, even though we all know that He could have refused to go through it all.
So with a loud voice, let us shout a heart-felt “Thank YOU Jesus!!”
